Kashmiri Chainstitch Rugs (Gabbas)
Chainstitch rugs are affordable handmade rugs, they are much less expensive than knotted carpets, equally beautiful and very durable.
The finest chainstitch rugs are produced in Kashmir; chain stitch being the traditional hand embroidery of this region since the time of Akbar, 1556-1605 A.D.
The technique is that of continued loop stitch using a hook in wool or silk yarn on Hessian cloth base to cover the entire surface of the rug, it is then backed with a panel of 100% cotton canvas.
They vary in size, colour and design and have become so popular that they are being used as wall hangings and sofa throws, as well as their original intended use as floor coverings.

Handmade felt rugs that make an excellent hard wearing warm floor covering, with their rustic, folksy charm. Made of unspun wool or wool and cotton pressed and felted.
The felt is embroidered in an open chainstitch in bold and wonderful designs. Numdhas come in many shapes (round, oblong, square) and sizes.
Quality depends on percentage of wool in the felt, 100% Wool or 50% Wool, 50% Cotton or 32% Wool, 68% Cotton.

Wall Hangings & Runners
Gorgeous, exotic, very colourful. Made from recycled hand embroidered, sequined, beaded silk and cotton fabrics, some are random patchwork and others symmetrical but each one is unique.
These have been used as throws, table covers, very different and individual bedheads as well as wall hangings for a stunning textural feature.

Shawls
I mainly sell the Merino wool woven patterned shawls and scarves known as Jamawars in three sizes. Most have a Paisley pattern or variations and come in many attractive colour combinations.
The sizes being:
- 33cm x 160cm, Scarf size
- 70cm x 180cm, Stole size
- 100cm x 200cm Shawl size
These are very popular, the largest size makes a wonderful warm wrap, great for traveling and look lovely as a throw over the back of a sofa or on the end of a bed. They can even become a wrap skirt.
